Why it matters
The risk is real. So are the levers.
Dachshunds face one of the highest IVDD rates of any breed - it's woven into the long, low build we love. And an episode is not a small thing: real pain, an emergency bill that runs into the thousands, weeks of crated recovery. But the same research that names the risk names a short list of everyday levers too - keep them lean, take the load off the neck, soften the hard landings. Cheap, undramatic, and yours to control. Trading helpless dread for a few things you can actually do - that's the whole reason we're here.
How we work

This category sells fear. We build from evidence: every product starts from published research and veterinary consensus. The best-evidenced lever is keeping a dachshund lean, and that one costs nothing. What the evidence does not say is that your dog should live a smaller life: controlled, regular movement is linked to lower risk, not higher. So we don't restrict the dog. We remove the handful of high-impact moments, and leave everything else exactly as it is.
